What are Sex Toys Made From?
Sex toys are made from all kinds of
material these days, ranging from rubber (latex) to a material that is made to
feel like real skin. You need to know how to clean and take care of each
product.
Latex
Latex sex toys are very common as latex
is a cheap material to manufacture. Latex is a rubber product, the same
material used in condoms, hence the name "rubbers". Latex is somewhat
porous so you need to take special care in cleaning. A little soap and
water goes a long way in cleaning latex. Always use "rubbers" if you are
sharing sex toys. Keep in mind that oil based lubes ect do not get along
well with your latex sex toys and will destroy them rather quickly.
Jelly
Sex toys made out of jelly, a rubber
type product, are quite common in the sex toy industry, mostly, again because of
the cost. Jelly sex toys are very porous so cleaning becomes very
important. It is best to buy a bottle of "sex toy cleaner" specially made
for sex toys.
Silicone
Sex toys made of silicone could be
considered the upper class material of sex toys. Silicone is not very
porous and can be easily cleaned with just soap and water. Silicone can
even be thrown in the dishwasher although we sure don't recommend putting
anything that runs on batteries in there, it is a little hard on the circuitry.
Cyberskin
Cyberskin is the ultimate sex toy
material. Cyberskin feels the real skin with its softness and flexibility.
Cyberskin is easy to clean with hot water or a little alcohol on a cloth.
Plastic
Plastic sex toys are quite common as it
is relatively inexpensive but can still deliver. The hard shells can
deliver a very solid vibration and is great for clitoral stimulation.
Plastic vibrators are an easy clean up with rubbing alcohol or sex toy cleaner.
Most plastic vibrators are not waterproof so be careful when cleaning with
water.
Glass
Yes, there is glass sex toys out there.
Most glass sex toys on the market not easily broken but you still must take
extra care of them. They are easily cleaned with sex toy cleaner and can
be boiled or put in the dishwasher. A word of warning though, if you drop
it and chip it, you best throw it out.
