The Purpose
It has been suggested that pubic hair has only one main purpose. That is
that the hair helps to retain certain pheromones (scents) which are used as
a powerful aphrodisiac to attract potential mates. Some also say that is
used to help keep you warm down there. This has to be a myth seeing how
everyone has their own opinions about pubic hair. So whatever the real
purpose of pubic hair is, some people just prefer not to have any at all.
Shaving Pubic Hair Off
When shaving off your pubic hair, there are a few things you must
remember to do before you start to shave. First of all, you need to have a
fresh razor to avoid any irritation, infections, and in-grown hairs. Next
sit in a comfortable chair with your legs above your waist and legs spread
apart.
1)Trim your hair first with an electric razor, clippers, or scissors.
This will help to save to the blade and will be able to get a closer cut.
2)Soak in long warm bath before. This will soften any coarse hair and it
will be easier to shave and style.
3)Apply a shaving cream or gel to the area. A thin layer of petroleum
jelly may also be used. Soap is not a good product to use. Having a good
lather will help you get a closer cut and avoid irritation from dryness.
4)Start shaving and styling as you wish. Be sure what style you want
before you start. Make sure to shave the same way your hair grows. Avoid
shaving the same area constantly as this may irritate the skin. Aim for 2 or
3 strokes. You can stretch the skin for more difficult areas.
5)It is very important to clean the area after you finish shaving. This
will prevent the pores from becoming clogged.
6)Moisturize the area good enough to prevent any irritation. Examples are
baby oil, Aloe Vera, or baby powder. Try to avoid anything with fragrances
or colors.
Be hygienic by washing the area daily and moisturizing daily. This will
help to remove any unwanted oils and sweat. Also try to wear cotton
underwear and loose fitting pants . Air circulation and low friction will
prevent in-grown hairs.
Warnings
When the pubic hair grows back, itching may occur and
little red bumps may appear. To relieve any itching, you can apply a
cortisone cream. If it does not go away, contact a doctor.
People often are allergic to some shaving creams. So
there are some hypo-allergenic shaving creams or you can use the petroleum
jelly. The pubic hair can be very sensitive, just be careful when you use
the shaving cream. If you notice itching or burning right away you may
have an allergy. Wash it off right away and use something else.
Some women have noticed sensitivity during menstruation
if shaving becomes uncomfortable for women during their periods, it might
be a good idea to shave at another time.
If shaving does cause a lot of irritation, in-grown
hairs, infection, or inflammation, there are different options you can try
other than shaving. Such as waxing, hair removal creams, or laser hair
removal.
Did you know...
-
Pubic hair is curly because of the shape of the hair
follicle. The flatter the follicle the curlier the hair . During puberty,
sex hormones float around the body turning all the follicles in the pubic
area flat, curly follicles.
-
The longest pubic hair record was set back in the 19th
century by a midwife. The women’s hair grew to below her knees and was
braided behind her back. Which is weird because most pubic hair will fall
out before it is long enough to trip over.
-
Pubic hair transplants are the latest trend in South
Korea. They say it is a sign of fertility. In the west, women are trying
to keep off but in Korea the trend is forestation.
